Dallas Arboretum
So we’re dog sitting for our daughter, who lives close to the Dallas Arboretum. And we have a membership which will expire soon. And the cold weather has magically transformed to warm.. today’s high will be around 75 degrees. Sweet!
So, we went for a little walk through the Arboretum. There wasn’t much to see, the Christmas exhibits are being torn down. And much of the plants are being transitioned from winter to spring, so there was a lot of dead and dying plants as well as new plantings. Nevertheless, there was some color, so we did snap a few images.
Looking forward to later in the spring time!
Dogs, and Arboretum
Spring is starting in Dallas area! Today, Stacy and Dallas invited us over for a brunch and to go over wedding plans. As usual, good food, family company, and things to look forward to!
The weather was so nice I just had to take a few pictures of the dogs playing outside. After that, we made a little side trip to the Dallas Arboretum to look at all the flowers springing up. The Arboretum is a favorite place for us to go multiple time during the year.

Tulip time at the Arboretum
It’s tulip time at the Dallas Arboretum so we joined Stacy and Dallas for a nice picnic lunch and tulip viewing session. We had a great time until rain eventually drove us out. But the colors of the tulips, and the large plantings and layout, were beautiful. Some images:

Fall in the arboretum
With the approaching winter storm, it was a great day for a fall visit to the Dallas Arboretum. And it was a great day, although the Christmas decorations were not out yet. But the arboretum is great in any weather!

A day at the arboretum
We joined the Dallas Arboretum this year, and with the weather being just about perfect, we spent a day in the Arboretum. Fall is approaching, but right now the focus is on Halloween. Pumpkins everywhere, and the dominant color is orange. But there were enough of the old exhibits still there to keep it balanced overall. Nice day for pictures!

Chihuly Exhibit in Dallas
Dale Chihuly is an internationally know artist whose medium is glass. Al sizes, all colors, all shapes. Some subtle, some even bizarre. Currently, there is an exhibit of his work in the Dallas Arboretum. Here, hundreds of his glass “shapes” are installed as a complement (and sometimes as a contrast) to the plants. His works are scattered throughout the 66 acre arboretum.
The exhibit is immensely popular. Even though the dates have been extended twice, it is always busy. And the night time exhibits — when the glass is lit up — has been sold out every evening. No matter when you go, you’ll find it busy — and many people carry some pretty darn impressive photo gear!
We managed to get in one night, and in the daytime twice. I took different cameras just to compare them, it is a great place to take pictures. Below is an album of some of the images I took, ending with some flowers… after all, it is an arboretum!
